Prestige Biopharma IDC Files Patent for Bispecific Antibody Targeting Cytokine Storm–Related Inflammatory Diseases

Prestige Biopharma IDC and Prestige Biopharma announced that they have filed a domestic patent for a bispecific antibody and pharmaceutical composition designed for the treatment of systemic inflammatory diseases associated with cytokine storm.

The patented technology involves a bispecific antibody that simultaneously blocks tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) and the interleukin-6 receptor (IL-6R). By targeting two key inflammatory signaling pathways at the same time, the approach aims to more effectively regulate excessive immune responses.

The bispecific antibody is designed to reduce the cascade of inflammatory cytokine reactions and help alleviate tissue damage and organ dysfunction caused by severe inflammation. Compared with conventional single-target antibody therapies, the dual-target approach may enable broader control of complex inflammatory responses, potentially making it applicable to a range of systemic inflammatory conditions, including cytokine release syndrome (CRS).

TNFα and IL-6 are both recognized as major inflammatory mediators involved in autoimmune and systemic inflammatory diseases. Several blockbuster antibody therapeutics currently on the market target these molecules individually. In recent years, therapeutic strategies that simultaneously modulate multiple inflammatory pathways have attracted attention as a next-generation approach in immunotherapy.

Through this patent filing, the Prestige Biopharma Group aims to strengthen its next-generation antibody therapy platform and expand its pipeline into immune-mediated and inflammatory disease areas. The company also plans to explore global clinical development opportunities and potential licensing collaborations to advance the commercialization potential of its innovative antibody portfolio.

Sang-Seok Koh, CEO of Prestige Biopharma IDC, stated that the bispecific antibody patent represents an important technological asset demonstrating the group’s antibody engineering capabilities and its strategy for developing next-generation immunotherapies. He added that the company will continue expanding R&D investment and open-innovation collaborations to build globally competitive innovative pipelines.
