Prestige Biopharma Secures U.S. Patent for Novel Anticancer Antibody PBP1710

Prestige Biopharma announced that it has secured a U.S. patent for its novel anticancer antibody candidate PBP1710, further strengthening the global intellectual property portfolio for the program.

With this latest patent registration, the company has expanded patent protection for PBP1710 to the United States in addition to Korea, Europe, Japan, and China, reinforcing its position as a global developer of innovative oncology therapeutics.

PBP1710 is an antibody therapeutic designed to overcome one of the major limitations in the treatment of solid tumors: poor drug penetration caused by dense collagen accumulation surrounding tumor tissues. This collagen-rich microenvironment forms a physical barrier that reduces the effectiveness of many anticancer drugs.

The therapeutic candidate targets CTHRC1, a protein involved in collagen accumulation and tumor progression. By inhibiting CTHRC1 activity, PBP1710 is designed to reduce the collagen barrier within tumors and improve the delivery and efficacy of existing anticancer therapies when used in combination treatment strategies.

Preclinical studies have demonstrated enhanced therapeutic effects when PBP1710 is combined with conventional anticancer agents in several solid tumors, including breast and ovarian cancers. The antibody also shows potential applicability across multiple solid tumor indications.

Based on these findings, PBP1710 has recently been selected as a candidate project under Korea’s National Drug Development Program for the development of a therapeutic targeting triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), a highly aggressive subtype of breast cancer with limited treatment options.

The global oncology drug market is estimated to exceed USD 220 billion, with the majority of therapies targeting solid tumors. However, innovative treatments that address the physical barriers within tumors remain limited, positioning PBP1710 as a promising candidate with potential to offer a new therapeutic approach in this space.

A company representative stated that the U.S. patent registration further strengthens the development foundation for PBP1710 and supports the company’s strategy to advance the program globally across multiple solid tumor indications.
