Prestige Biopharma IDC Selected for National Drug Development Project for TNBC Program

Prestige Biopharma announced that its R&D center, Prestige Biopharma IDC, has been selected for the 2025 second-round National Drug Development Program under the “New Drug Ecosystem R&D Infrastructure” category.

The selected project focuses on the development of a therapeutic candidate for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) based on the company’s proprietary anti-CTHRC1 monoclonal antibody, PBP1710.

The National Drug Development Program is a pan-ministerial initiative launched to strengthen the global competitiveness of Korea’s pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. The program supports the entire drug development cycle over a 10-year period starting from 2021, aiming to enhance the domestic new drug R&D ecosystem, generate globally competitive outcomes, and create public health benefits.

With this selection, Prestige Biopharma IDC will receive research funding over the next two years to accelerate preclinical studies and process development for PBP1710.

PBP1710 is an antibody therapeutic candidate designed to precisely target the CTHRC1 protein, which plays a key role in cancer progression and metastasis. CTHRC1 is overexpressed in several difficult-to-treat solid tumors, including pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and colorectal cancer. The protein contributes to tumor fibrosis and angiogenesis, which can limit drug penetration and promote tumor metastasis.

Preclinical studies have demonstrated that PBP1710 can inhibit cancer cell migration and invasion by more than 45% at the cellular level, highlighting its potential applicability across multiple solid tumor indications.

The selected research project specifically targets triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), a subtype of breast cancer that lacks estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and HER2 expression. Because of this biological profile, TNBC patients often have limited treatment options and face relatively high recurrence and metastasis rates.

By targeting the CTHRC1 pathway, PBP1710 is expected to provide a novel therapeutic strategy for TNBC and potentially other solid tumors.

Kang Tae-heung, Head of New Drug Development at Prestige Biopharma IDC, stated that the project selection will further strengthen IDC’s innovative drug research capabilities and accelerate the development of PBP1710.
