Prestige Biopharma IDC Selected for Korea’s ARPA-H National Research Program

Prestige Biopharma IDC, the R&D center of Prestige Biopharma (KRX: 950210), has been selected as a research partner for the Korean ARPA-H Project, a national initiative led by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI).

The Korean ARPA-H Project is a government-led research and development program designed to drive transformative innovation in healthcare and medical services. The initiative focuses on five national missions: strengthening health security, overcoming intractable diseases, securing next-generation biohealth technologies, improving welfare and caregiving systems, and advancing essential healthcare services.

Prestige Biopharma IDC will participate as a core research institution in the project titled “Development of Therapeutics to Suppress Severe Progression During Infectious Disease Pandemics,” which falls under the health security mission.

The project will be conducted as a consortium led by Seoul National University College of Medicine, with Yonsei University and Prestige Biopharma IDC serving as collaborative research institutions. The program will run from 2025 to 2029 with a total research budget of approximately KRW 12.75 billion.

The detailed research initiative, titled “Development of Broad-Spectrum Therapeutics for RNA Viruses in Pandemic Response,” focuses on the development of structure-based artificial protein therapeutics using artificial intelligence (AI).

Through this project, the consortium plans to develop several next-generation therapeutic solutions for pandemic preparedness, including viral infection inhibitors, broad-spectrum inflammation suppressors, and receptor–immune system humanized mouse platforms for therapeutic evaluation.

Tae-Heung Kang, Head of the New Drug Development Division at Prestige Biopharma IDC, stated that the project selection reflects national recognition of IDC’s innovative drug discovery capabilities.

He added that the institute aims to establish new global standards for next-generation infectious disease therapeutics by integrating artificial intelligence with advanced protein engineering technologies.
