Prestige Biopharma Secures European Patent for Pancreatic Cancer Antibody PBP1510
Prestige Biopharma (CEO: Soyeon Park) announced that the European patent for its pancreatic cancer antibody candidate PBP1510, titled “Antibodies Specifically Binding to PAUF Protein and Uses Thereof,” has been granted.
With this decision, Prestige Biopharma has now secured intellectual property protection for PBP1510 across all five major global patent jurisdictions (IP5), including Korea, the United States, Japan, China, and Europe. The company has currently completed substance patent registrations in a total of 19 countries, further strengthening its exclusive rights in the global market.
PBP1510 is an antibody therapeutic candidate targeting PAUF (Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma Up-regulated Factor), a protein that is overexpressed in approximately 80% of pancreatic cancer patients. PAUF is known to promote tumor cell proliferation, metastasis, immune evasion, and angiogenesis. It also contributes to the formation of an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment by inducing myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) and M2 macrophages.
Due to these characteristics, PAUF is considered a highly valuable biomarker for diagnosis and prognosis as well as a promising therapeutic target. PBP1510 is a human monoclonal antibody designed to neutralize PAUF and is currently being evaluated through global clinical trials.
The Phase 1/2a clinical study of PBP1510 is currently underway in the United States and Europe, including Spain. Alongside clinical development, Prestige Biopharma is pursuing technology licensing opportunities and developing early diagnostic tools based on the PAUF biomarker. The company expects that the newly granted European patent will further strengthen its position in global partnership negotiations.
In addition, Prestige Biopharma is expanding its patent portfolio through ongoing applications in several countries, including Brazil, Argentina, Thailand, Türkiye, and Hong Kong.
A company representative stated that the European patent grant further reinforces the company’s intellectual property protection across key global markets and provides a stronger foundation for the continued development of PBP1510.
The company also aims to expand the therapeutic applications of PBP1510 through combination therapies and diagnostic integration to transform the treatment paradigm for pancreatic cancer.
Meanwhile, Prestige Biopharma is accelerating efforts to build a comprehensive pancreatic cancer treatment ecosystem based on the PAUF biomarker, encompassing diagnosis, therapy, and prevention.
As part of this strategy, the company is developing an early diagnostic technology that detects PAUF protein expression in pancreatic tissue samples using immunohistochemistry (IHC). The technology utilizes tissue obtained through fine-needle aspiration (FNA) during endoscopic examinations, enabling early detection of pancreatic cancer.
In parallel, Prestige Biopharma is also developing next-generation molecular diagnostic technologies capable of detecting trace amounts of PAUF in blood samples.
Through this PAUF-based precision medicine platform, the company aims to establish an integrated system that enables early detection, personalized treatment, and prevention of pancreatic cancer while strengthening the global competitiveness and commercial potential of PBP1510.
