Prestige Biopharma IDC Publishes IHC-Based PAUF Diagnostic Platform Study in International Journal
Prestige Biopharma IDC (CEO: Sang-Seok Koh), the R&D center of Prestige Biopharma, announced that research on its immunohistochemistry (IHC)-based PAUF diagnostic platform has been published in the SCIE-indexed international journal World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology.
The study, titled “Quantitative Immunohistochemistry Analysis of Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma Upregulated Factor Expression in Pancreatic Cancer and Its Prognostic Significance,” highlights the clinical relevance of PAUF as a biomarker for pancreatic cancer diagnosis and prognosis.
The research was led by Professor Jin-Hyeok Hwang from the Department of Gastroenterology at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. The study provides new clinical evidence supporting the role of PAUF expression in pancreatic cancer diagnosis and prognostic evaluation.
In the study, researchers analyzed PAUF expression in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) tissue samples using immunohistochemistry (IHC) and evaluated its clinical correlations. The results showed that PAUF expression was detected in 80.8% of the analyzed samples.
Patients with high PAUF expression demonstrated significantly shorter overall survival compared with those with low PAUF expression. The median survival time was 18.4 months in the high-expression group versus 32.7 months in the low-expression group (P = 0.032).
Furthermore, multivariate Cox regression analysis confirmed that high PAUF expression is an independent prognostic risk factor associated with poor clinical outcomes (HR = 2.05; 95% CI, 1.19–3.53; P = 0.009), reinforcing the potential clinical utility of PAUF as a prognostic biomarker.
Professor Jin-Hyeok Hwang stated that the findings clinically demonstrate the significance of PAUF expression as an important biomarker for pancreatic cancer diagnosis and prognosis. He added that the study could serve as meaningful evidence for developing personalized treatment strategies for pancreatic cancer patients.
