Prestige Biopharma IDC to Host First International Symposium on Emerging Biopharmaceutical Modalities

Prestige Biopharma IDC (CEO: Sang-Seok Koh), the R&D control tower and wholly owned subsidiary of Prestige Biopharma (CEO: Soyeon Park), announced on the 25th that it will host its first international symposium following the completion of its new headquarters.

The event will be held over two days, from the 13th to the 14th of next month, at the ROA Hall on the first floor of the company’s headquarters in Busan, with support from the Busan Metropolitan Government. The symposium will be held in conjunction with the official opening ceremony of the newly completed Innovative Discovery Center (IDC), a 33,000 m² research facility located in the Myeongji district of Busan.

The symposium, titled “New Horizons for Biopharmaceuticals: Innovative Discovery for Life,” will bring together approximately 300 researchers and experts from around the world to discuss advances in biopharmaceutical research and development.

The program will begin with a keynote lecture by Professor Sarfaraz K. Niazi of the University of Illinois titled “Bioevolution: From Treating to Modulating Disease.” Professor Niazi is a renowned scholar who has authored more than 50 books on biopharmaceutical development and has worked closely with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The two-day symposium will feature a total of 13 speakers across three sessions. Distinguished speakers include Professor Ayami Okuzumi of Juntendo University and Professor Minsoo Kim of the University of Rochester.

In particular, the session on “Therapeutic Modality” will highlight emerging modalities and antibody drug development platforms. Taedong Han, CEO of Aptis—an ADC specialist company that recently signed an MOU with IDC for next-generation antibody-drug conjugate development—will present on ADC technologies and their potential applications. Professor Minsoo Kim, former Chair of Immunology at the University of Rochester, will also discuss current challenges and solutions in CAR-T (chimeric antigen receptor T-cell) immunotherapy.

On the second day, the “Open Innovation” session will explore collaborative approaches to drug discovery. Danny Belkin, Director at SingHealth, Singapore’s largest healthcare cluster, will introduce open innovation strategies that foster collaboration among biotech companies, hospitals, and universities to accelerate biomedical research.

Sang-Seok Koh, CEO of Prestige Biopharma IDC, stated, “Through events such as this international symposium, we aim to accelerate research and development of innovative therapeutics and emerging biotechnologies through open innovation at our new research center. We plan to further expand our role as a global hub for new drug development by advancing multiple antibody therapeutics and biosimilar programs.”
