Prestige Biopharma Secures Japanese Patent for Antibody Drug Candidate PBP1710 Targeting Solid Tumors

Prestige Biopharma (CEO: Soyeon Park), a biopharmaceutical company specializing in antibody therapeutics, announced on the 20th that it has obtained a Japanese patent for its antibody drug candidate PBP1710 titled “Novel CTHRC1-Specific Antibodies and the Use Thereof.”
The newly registered patent covers therapeutic antibodies targeting CTHRC1, a protein that is overexpressed in various solid tumors including pancreatic, breast, ovarian, and colorectal cancers. CTHRC1 plays a critical role in tumor progression and metastasis by contributing to angiogenesis and other mechanisms involved in tumor development.
According to the company, PBP1710 is an antibody designed to specifically bind to and neutralize the CTHRC1 protein, thereby inhibiting the formation and progression of solid tumors. The antibody has also demonstrated potential in reducing tumor fibrosis, a condition in which excessive extracellular matrix components such as collagen accumulate around tumor cells, forming dense connective tissue that limits drug penetration.
Prestige Biopharma reported that CTHRC1-targeting antibodies have been shown at the cellular level to inhibit cancer cell migration and invasion in solid tumors by more than 45%. Based on these findings, preclinical studies of PBP1710 are currently underway at the company’s Innovative Discovery Center (IDC).
A company representative stated, “The acquisition of this patent for PBP1710 (Anti-CTHRC1), together with the ongoing clinical development of the pancreatic cancer therapeutic PBP1510 (Anti-PAUF), further demonstrates the potential to develop novel targeted antibody therapies that can improve treatment outcomes while reducing side effects for patients with difficult-to-treat solid tumors.”
The representative added that the company plans to continue securing patent protection in major markets including the United States and Europe while accelerating the development of PBP1710.
Prestige Biopharma has now secured patents for PBP1710 in six countries, including Korea, South Africa, Indonesia, China, Russia, and Japan. To strengthen intellectual property protection, the company has filed patent applications in a total of 16 countries and continues to actively pursue registrations with regulatory authorities worldwide.
