Prestige Biopharma IDC Hosts Regional R&D Engagement Tour with BISTEP and Civic Groups

Prestige Biopharma IDC hosted the “Regional R&D Engagement Tour with Civic Groups” in collaboration with the Busan Institute for Science and Technology Evaluation and Planning (BISTEP), providing participants with an opportunity to explore the region’s biopharmaceutical research and development landscape.

According to BISTEP, the event was held on May 15 as part of the “2025 Regional R&D Engagement Tour” program, which invites civic organizations to visit key research sites in major regional industries and emerging growth sectors. The program aims to enhance public understanding of the social value and impact of science and technology while strengthening awareness of regional industrial development.

The third tour of the year focused on the biopharmaceutical sector and was designed to share the current R&D activities of the industry with the local community while exploring opportunities for regional economic development and improvements in public health through science and technology.

Participants included Sang-Seok Koh, CEO of Prestige Biopharma IDC, executives and researchers from the institute, BISTEP President Young-Boo Kim and staff members, as well as representatives from civic organizations including the Busan Citizens’ Coalition for Balanced Development and Decentralization, the Citizens’ Coalition for Economic Justice (CCEJ), and YWCA.

The event began with a presentation by the New Drug Planning Office of Prestige Biopharma IDC on the company’s current research and development activities. The program continued with a Q&A session and discussion forum, followed by guided tours of research facilities including nonclinical laboratories and shared research infrastructure.

Participants were able to observe firsthand how advanced biopharmaceutical technologies can contribute to regional economic growth and public welfare.

CEO Sang-Seok Koh of Prestige Biopharma IDC stated that the institute is committed to addressing unmet medical needs through the development of innovative antibody therapeutics and diagnostic technologies. He noted that the engagement tour provided a meaningful opportunity for citizens and the local community to better understand the value and potential of the biopharmaceutical industry.

BISTEP President Young-Boo Kim emphasized that the visit demonstrated the growth potential of the regional bioindustry through innovative companies such as Prestige Biopharma IDC. He added that BISTEP will continue to engage citizens in discussions on regional industrial development and reflect these insights in future science and technology policies and R&D initiatives.
