Prestige Biopharma Secures Korean Patent for PBP1710, an Antibody Therapeutic for Solid Tumors

Prestige Biopharma announced on the 10th that it has obtained a Korean patent for the CTHRC1-neutralizing antibody of its antibody therapeutic candidate, PBP1710. The patent is titled “Novel CTHRC1-Specific Antibody and Uses Thereof.”

Following its patent for the PAUF-neutralizing antibody of its pancreatic cancer therapeutic PBP1510, the company plans to accelerate the development of antibody therapeutics targeting solid tumors through this additional patent.

CTHRC1 is known to be overexpressed in solid tumors, including pancreatic cancer, where it contributes to tumor formation. PBP1710 is an antibody therapeutic that specifically binds to and neutralizes the CTHRC1 protein, and is expected to inhibit the development of solid tumors. This marks the first case in Korea of a patent granted for a CTHRC1 antibody for the treatment of refractory solid tumors.

The CTHRC1-neutralizing antibody technology was developed by Prestige Biopharma’s Innovative Discovery Centre (IDC). According to the company, IDC has confirmed that the CTHRC1 antibody inhibits the migration and invasion of cancer cells in solid tumors, including pancreatic and breast cancers, by more than 45%.

Prestige Biopharma has also filed patent applications for this technology in 21 countries, including the United States, Japan, and Europe.
