The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority (BJFEZ) held its “BJFEZ Insight Trip” program today (April 28) for 44 students and teachers from the Software Content Department of Busan Information High School.

This initiative marks an expansion of the industrial site visit program—previously focused on university students—to include high school students, aiming to help young local talents explore and shape their career paths at an earlier stage.

Participants first visited the BJFEZ Promotion Center and the Busan New Port Branch of the Busan Port Authority, where they learned about the strategic role of Busan New Port as a key logistics hub in Northeast Asia, as well as the future vision of the free economic zone.

The group then toured the Innovation Drug Research Institute of Prestige Biopharma IDC, a global biopharmaceutical R&D company located in Myeongji International New Town, where they observed advanced research processes and on-site operations in the biotech industry.

Sang Seok Koh, CEO of Prestige Biopharma IDC, who joined the visit, said, “We hope this experience will broaden students’ understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry and help them turn their aspirations into concrete goals.”

In addition, the program included a history and culture storytelling session linked to key districts within the free economic zone, which received positive responses from participants.

Sung-ho Park, Commissioner of BJFEZ, commented, “This expansion reflects the growing interest among local students. We will continue to strengthen collaboration with schools, companies, and related institutions to provide more opportunities for young people to explore their career paths.”
